January Newsletter

Dear Members
2021, and here we are in a national lockdown and it doesn’t seem right to wish you all a Happy New Year but I am going to do just that!! We are living through the most difficult time in living memory and yet there is light at the end of this long dark tunnel. The Society is hopeful to be able to run all of our events scheduled for 2021.

This will, of course be determined by Government and National guidelines. Restrictions or indeed lack of them as the case may be.The Working Sports Pony Show will host a RIHS qualifier for the NPS Mountain and Moorland WHP and a LandRover Burghley Gold Cup Qualifier as well as Novice and Arena Eventing Classes for all ponies. If the need arises, we may have to amend the date so check our website etc.

The Winter Championships will have classes across the board for all our members, to be held at Arena UK, Allington, Grantham, Lincolnshire, NG32 2EF, due to the difficulty with Winter Shows not going ahead, no qualification will be necessary. Some of the early RIHS qualifiers are being delayed due to Covid-19 but we hope very much to get up and running as soon as we are allowed. All the Show dates are listed on the website but please do check as some of these may be subject to change.

WE are expanding the Midsummer Show with the addition of an exciting Future Stars Tiny Tots section incorporating 12 Tiny Tots classes both for plaited and unplaited ponies including Tiny Tots Stakes, Cradle and Nursery Stakes. Please put the date in your diary Saturday June 19th.The well-known, extremely prestigious Black Country Saddles Best Rider competition will now have individual Championships at each of our Area Shows with a Supreme Championship at the BSPS Summer Championships with the prize of a Black Country Saddle for the Winner. An amazing competition don’t forget to enter!!

Good news, the Society is building a new system with the help of Entrymaster to enable all our members to join on-line, register ponies existing and new ponies and enter all our shows and events via the on-line portal through the website. We know that this will enable our members to make it easier to enter our shows via their mobile phones and laptops and we hope that members will take full advantage. Finally, my hope for the future is a return to ‘normal’ ; or indeed’ a new normal’!!!

The one certain thing in these uncertain times is that the BSPS will do everything required to bring together its members to enjoy what we do best Showing! By working together we can and we will.

Until then keep well, keep safe.Pat PattinsonNational ChairmanBritish Show Pony Society is a limited company registered in England and Wales. Registered No.
